Foodie picks for Korea in 2016

I think I have a serious addiction. I am addicted to Korean food blogs. I might not be able to read everything but foodporn goes beyond words. Just the picutures is enough to keep me drooling and looking forward to it. I am planning to go back to South Korea in 2016 with a few close friends. Yay!

Since then, I have started to plan for our foodventures. 2 of us are pretty big YG stans so I should include a couple of them in my foodie picks. I would love to try some Eat Your Kimchi recommendations and some popular Korean places I did not get to go to last year.

This will be a working document so it will seem incomplete. My blog seems like the best place to record all my information. If you have certain dishes that you want to try,  leave me a comment. If I have the time, I may do the research for you. Or if you have a die die must try recommendation, please leave me a comment too! I love love recommendations for tried and tested places. 🙂

Nasi Goreng (Winner’s Fav?) – I am not sure how accurate is the information but according to a Twitter account, this is where Winner goes for their nasi goreng. No confirmation yet though!

Sinju Yang Kko Chi (신주양꼬치) – I was drooling after watching this chinese lamb skewer EYK video! EYK posted the address: 360-24 Seogyo-dong, Mapo-Gu, Seoul but I had problems finding the shop on Google Maps. After some digging, I finally found the name of the place, Sinju Yang Kko Chi “신주양꼬치“. If you want to search it on Naver, please include the words Hongdae in your search. Otherwise you may be pointed to another restaurant in Jeju! You can read more about it at blog 1, blog 2. The stuff to try: lamb skewers “양꼬치” and spicy lamb skewers “매운양꼬치”. It’s open from 5pm to 5am, till 6am on weekends.

Royal Cuisine – I have always wanted to try the royal cuisine since I watched Dae Jang Geum at least 5 times. LOL. I blame my addicted parents. Recently, EYK did a video of it (found here!). However, the name of the restaurant seem to be incorrect. It seems to be called Jimiwon “지미원“. I found a Korean blog talking about it with the same address. The address is: 전북 군산시 나운동 870-10. There is another famous one which was mentioned in EYK’s blog that is located in Seoul!

BBQ – I ❤ it!
401 (Running man Haha) – It was quite a pity I did not get to try it when I went to Seoul. So I’ll definitely drop by next year.
[Hongdae Outlet] 서울특별시 마포구 서교동 395-17  / 395-17 Seogyo-dong (23 Jandari-ro) – closest to Honggik Univ. Station Exit 9

** Please note that Paljamakchang opened by Gary, Running Man is no longer in operation! It’s closed! Do not go.

3 brothers (YG!)

GeolGuNe WangGobchang(걸구네왕곱창) – Of all places, I caught up with my primary school mate in Seoul! She recommended this BBQ restaurant in Itaewon and it was pretty good. I’m still craving for the pork rind. This blogger went to the same place and wrote about it. I had an additional order of gopchang. The address is: 서울특별시 용산구 이태원1동, 전화번호:02-795-3992. You can check out the map from this blog:

Yeolbong (Se7en) – This is one of my favourite meals in Seoul. Tasty and spicy!
Cafe Miel
Ohjju Sincheon Cafe (BIGBANG Seungri’s mom)

Gwangjang Market
Majang Meat Market – Actually I have half-written this post. It deserves a post of its own. The most VFM beef BBQ meal in Korea!
